Men’s Wardrobe began in 2021 with an argument. Two of us had spent a decade between us in sourcing and merchandising, and we kept running into the same thing: a customer buys a shirt they like, gets it home, and finds it does not go with anything they already own. The shirt was not the problem. The buying was.
So we started from the other end. Rather than designing a season and hoping it hangs together, we design a wardrobe: a fixed number of pieces per volume, each one checked against the others for colour, weight and proportion before it goes into production. If a piece only works on its own, it does not make the cut.
What that means in practice
Four volumes a year, roughly forty pieces each. Every garment is specified against the ones already in the range. A new trouser has to work with at least six existing tops or it is reworked. It is a slower way to build a collection and it rules out a lot of ideas we liked, which is rather the point.
- Fabrics are named. Mill, weight in GSM, and finish are on every product page, not buried in a description tab.
- Three fits, and only three. Relaxed, regular and slim, cut consistently across the range so your size does not move between categories.
- Shrinkage is tested and published. If a fabric moves more than two per cent after a domestic wash, we pre-shrink it or we do not use it.
Where things are made
Everything is cut and sewn in India. Woven pieces come from two units in Ahmedabad and Tiruppur that we have worked with since the first volume. Knitwear comes from a smaller family-run mill in Ludhiana. Footwear is made in Kanpur. We visit each of them at least twice a year, and we pay on thirty-day terms rather than the ninety that is common in this trade.
The people
There are eleven of us. Four in design and production, three in the studio in Bengaluru, two on customer care, and two who do everything else. We answer our own email. If something has gone wrong with an order, you will be talking to someone who can actually fix it.
